Making its exciting debut on the fertile Ballarat festival circuit and with support from the City of Ballarat, Creative Victoria through its Music Works initiative, and the phenomenal music community of Ballarat, the inaugural Ballarat SongWays Music Festival will take place from 14 - 16 October at various venues around the picturesque and historical township, showcasing great musical collaborations past and present.

A major showcase of distinctly regional music, the Ballarat SongWays Music Festival celebrates Ballarat as the home ground for some of Australia’s best known & most exciting contemporary music.

Taking place over two days and two nights in the regional centre’s CBD, the Ballarat SongWays Music Festival kicks off with educational and professional development sessions for the aspiring and established musician alike keen to brush up on skills and networking opportunities. Moving into free and ticketed live music events over the weekend from Friday night onwards, combining live music performances in some of Ballarat’s most iconic venues & historic musical spaces. The Ballarat SongWays Music Festival has something to suit all musical tastes and persuasions

Ballarat is presently enjoying a renaissance in many arenas such as food, fashion, entertainment, art & design, and other cultural endeavours, thus creating a wave of brand new major events & festivals capturing the scene and shining a light on all the town has to offer. The time is ripe for a music festival such as The Ballarat SongWays Music Festival to be born to accentuate the musical vibrancy of Ballarat and surrounds.

A combination of ticketed and free musical performances, the event will take the town by storm and mix things up with musicians taking over both iconic live music venues as well as spaces not usually where one would witness live acts strut their stuff. Iconic CBD venues traditionally associated with presenting original live music such as The Main Bar, Suttons House Of Music, Babushka Lounge, etc are all participating in this inaugural music festival.

The live performance component commencing on the Friday evening of 14th October and concluding on Sunday 16th October will see the town come alive with the sound of music like never before. An amazing amount of live performances will take place in Ballarat, where the diversity of performers will beguile punters venturing out to take part in the celebrations. Come witness a rising star or get a taste of the remarkable established acts - Ballarat Songways Music Festival will show off the tantalizing and extraordinary musical wares of the city.
